Wolf Bird, distinctively Canadian, is a rare species found near secluded shorelines, islands and clear lakes often in cottage country. Its intelligence, complex social behaviour, and haunting vocalizations have made it one of Canada’s most enduring wilderness legends. Wary of humans, it disappears instantly when approached or disturbed. It is reported that the Wolf Bird’s haunting call instills courage, strength and reverence to those who hear it and to those who believe in its mystical being.
